How to Make Your Own Save the Date Magnets
This DIY project is so easy, it probably shouldn’t even qualify as a project, per se. More like a fun weekend activity for you and your bridesmaids. But with save the date magnets being so popular these days, what kind of DIY-loving-stationer would I be if I didn’t tell you how to make your own using a simple, run of the mill invitation template?
Ohhh, this one’s a good one!
DIY Save the Date Magnets
Materials
Scissors or guillotine paper cutter
Save the date template
Adhesive magnet sheets
80# Cardstock
A7 envelopes
1 | Gather supplies and print your template
For the magnets, I used 8.5″ x 11″ adhesive magnet sheets I found on Amazon, but they no longer have that size in stock. Instead, I linked to another brand that should work just as well, but I haven’t tried it myself.
As for the cardstock, I recommend using this 80# Cardstock. You don’t need anything too thick since it’s going to be layered on top of a magnet. And the basket weave texture gives it a soft, romantic feel.
2 | Remove the paper backing and center your cardstock
Peel the paper off the sticky side of the magnet. Then pick up a piece of printed cardstock and center it over the magnet. It doesn’t have to be lined up perfectly since you’re going to trim them down in the next step. Just make sure all sides of your save the dates are touching the magnet.
3 | Press down and trim them out
Press the cardstock to the magnet starting at one corner and slowly working your way to the opposite corner. Then run your (clean!) hands over your save the dates to remove any bubbles.
Cut out your save the date magnets using a pair of sharp scissors or a guillotine paper cutter (cutting out a lot of these might slowly dull the blade so don’t use anything you’re too attached to.)
Gorgeous and easy, just like a wedding DIY should be, yes?
