5 Super Easy Up Dos You Can Do Yourself
I think we’ve already established that just because you’re having the beautiful, fairytale wedding of your dreams doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune, right? That’s so easy to say when it comes to stationery and paper goods, but what about other expenses like hair, makeup and food? Well, I can’t help you with the makeup or food part today, but can help you with the hair. Here are five super easy wedding hairstyles you can do at home (no, seriously!).
5 SUPER EASY WEDDING HAIRSTYLES YOU CAN DO YOURSELF
Most hair tutorials talk about how easy they are to do, but when you actually try to do them you quickly realize it’s not easy–at all (pro tip: stay away from anything involving a braided updo). But luckily there are still some easy wedding hairstyles you can do that will make you look like a million bucks, minus the pricetag.
I’ll show you five classic hairstyles that are as easy as they are elegant. All you need is a comb, a little hairspray and a couple hours to perfect these babies. That way you can spend the rest of your time worrying about more important things (ahem, cake and champagne).
1. French Twist
The French Twist is a classic that’s been making quite a resurgence lately–mostly because it’s so sleek, elegant and easy. While French Twists are known for looking polished and perfect, if you’re afraid of looking too Mad Men-esque, instead opt for a looser style like this messy french twist from Once Wed. It’s perfectly imperfect, yet still refined enough for your big day.
2. Low Bun
I think buns just so happen to be the most versatile, chic and classic hairstyles around. They’re an elegantly blank slate perfect for dressing up or down depending on the activity. And for a wedding, this means dressing way up.
This tutorial from Brooklyn Blonde tells you how to make a chic low bun, perfect for tucking flowers into or hiding sweetly beneath a veil. And if you’re worried that you don’t have enough hair for a bun, don’t fret. There are endless tools out there to help you fake it until you make it.
3. Fishtail Braid
What’s not to love about a fishtail braid? Much like french twists, fishtail braids have been making a comeback because they’re so eye catching and fun. Swoop it to the side for a touch of Bohemian elegance and relax knowing that your hair will look picture perfect all night long.

4. Upscale Ponytail
Ponytails are usually relegated to the gym or nights at home in your PJs, but they don’t have to be. A soft, eye-catching ponytail will looking completely at home with a wedding gown and veil if done right. To keep your pony looking wedding-appropriate, add a little bit of texture and a subtle twist. And don’t forget the clear elastics! Nothing says “I just came from the gym” like a thick elastic hairband.
This tutorial from A Cup of Jo will show you how to get a picture-perfect pony for your wedding day.
5. Loose Waves
Why not ditch the updo completely and instead opt for loose, beachy waves. All you need is some hairspray and a curling iron to create soft curls. Then add a headband, veil or flowers for a little flair.
